Hiking Jacket

A big hood, two hip pockets with a big flap, two spacious chest pockets and a sleeve pocket. Perfect for hiking in all weather situations. All pockets can be used even with a backpack.

Jacket Description

The jacket is made from two different cotton fabrics. It has a raglan sleeve cut. The shoulder, elbows and the bottom back are reinforced with Cordura 500. This adds durability and extra water proofness where it's needed. The gray fabric is a 'British Millerain Sahara waxed cotton' and the orange fabric is 'Ventile L24' waterproof/breathable cotton.
Both fabrics can be rewaxed if needed.

Due to the slight stiffness of the fabric, the sleeve hem has a stretch cord tightening. A flap tightening here would make the hem very bulky. The jacket fits slim over the hips and can also be tightened with a stretch cording.
The position of the pockets work really well with all backpacks. The hood is warm and gives good protection even with a helmet on.

The jacket was tested on a hiking trip to Halti.
And the pattern will be coming out soon.

Pockets

Pockets

All pockets are easily excessable while carrying a backpack. The chest pocket are spaces and fit all you need. They close with zippers. The hip pockets provide space for hats, headbands, neck gaiters, cloves and mittens. The flap came out a little too big but it still works well.

Sleeve pocket

The sleeve pocket is a patch pocket with a flap. It closes with hook and loop velcro. It is great to store engery bars.

The Hood

The hood seems big but it works wonderful in all kind of weather conditions, kind of like a storm hood. It has space for a hat underneath and is lined with a Merino wool interlock fabric which makes it very warm.

When the cording around the face is tightened you can still see left and right as the hood moves with the head. The cording in the back helps to pull some of the extra fabric back if needed. The brim is not too stiff and gives good protection
even with glasses on.
